The cottage is ideally situated for walking, sight-seeing and exploring the Derbyshire countryside and the scenic Peak National Park with Bakewell only 5 miles away; Matlock 8 miles away; Chatsworth House 6 miles away and Haddon Hall 3 miles away.
It is an ideal starting point for a number of walks, from short strolls to an all day excursion, depending on your preference.
Three long distance footpaths pass through Youlgrave - the Altenative Pennine Way, The White Peak Way and the Limestone Way. There are also many local footpaths and bridleways for circular walks whilst also being close to the Tissington Trail and Monsal Head Trail, where bicycles can be hired.
Not far from Apple Tree Cottage you will find a Post Office/newsagent/general store and a butcher with a deli counter, both of which provide all basic provisions.
Supermarkets and a wider range of shops can be found in Bakewell (5 miles) or Matlock (8 miles).
There are three pubs in the village serving "real" ales and high quality food. There are also restaurants and take-aways readily available in both Bakewell and Matlock.
